Miami Hurricanes News: New FB RB Coach, Baseball and Hoops win

The Miami Hurricanes football program is hiring Central Florida running backs coach Tim “Ice” Harris Jr. for the same role with the Hurricanes. The Miami basketball team earned a critical win on the road to stay alive in the regular season ACC title race and the baseball team defeated Stetson 11-2 for its third straight victory.

It was a busy Tuesday night for the three Miami Hurricanes marquee programs. Andy Slater of  640 Fox Sports South Florida tweeted late on Tuesday afternoon about the Hurricanes hiring Harris. Harris Jr. was the RB coach at FIU from 2015-20 and left for UCF where he coached RBs in 2021 and 2022.

The Miami basketball team is the hottest power conference program with its seventh straight win at Virginia Tech on Tuesday night. Miami held the lead throughout the second half in a 76-70 victory. Miami moves into a virtual first-place tie in the ACC with Virginia who plays at Boston College on Wednesday night.

Yohandy Morales had three hits in five at-bats with three runs scored, three RBIs and two home runs to lead the Miami baseball team to its third straight win 11-2 on Tuesday night versus Stetson. The ball was flying on Tuesday night as the Hatters and Hurricanes combined for six HRs. Miami hosts Indiana State on Wednesday.

The hiring of Harris allows him to return home. Harris is the son of the legendary Booker T. Washington coach of the same name. Central Florida was ninth nationally averaging 228.36 rushing yards per game in 2022. Miami was 95th nationally averaging 128.33 rushing YPG in 2022.

The Miami basketball team who moved up two spots in each of the two national polls on Monday should continue to rise in the NCAA Net Ratings with the quadrant one win at Virginia Tech on Tuesday night. Miami returns home on Saturday to host Florida State and finishes the season versus Pittsburgh on March 4.
