The Miami Hurricanes basketball team blew a 25-point second-half lead losing 85-84 to Florida State on Saturday. Several Miami media outlets reported on Saturday night that defensive line coach Rod Wright is leaving the Hurricanes for the Houston Texans. The Miami baseball team won its sixth straight versus Dartmouth.

Miami blew the biggest lead in ACC basketball history with the loss to Florida State. The Hurricanes led 54-31 at halftime and scored the first two points of the second half to extend the lead to 56-31. Florida State had a few runs before taking the lead late. A Jordan Miller three with six seconds left put Miami ahead 83-82.

Multiple sites broke the news on Saturday about Wright leaving. The opportunity with the Texans provides Wright the opportunity to coach in the NFL and return to his home state. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald proposed the idea that has been speculated by others that Jason Taylor could be the successor to Wright.

Taylor was a defensive analyst for Miami last year. Jackson opined that Taylor is open to becoming a college assistant coach and becoming the Miami Hurricanes defensive line coach makes a lot of sense. Taylor was previously the defensive coordinator at St. Thomas Aquinas. Joe Salave’a is the Miami interior defensive line coach.

The Miami baseball team won its sixth straight game after losing the season opener last week to Penn State. Miami clinched the series versus Dartmouth on Saturday night with a 6-0 win over the Big Green. Karson Ligon had his second straight impressive outing allowing four hits with no walks and six strikeouts in seven innings.

The next week is a huge one upcoming for Miami. Spring practice begins for the Miami football team next weekend with multiple juniors visiting. Pittsburgh plays at Miami in basketball with the winner being the number-one seed in the ACC Tournament. Miami baseball plays at FAU on Tuesday and Florida next weekend.
