Six of the 15 early enrollees for the Miami football program are on defense. The Miami early enrollees on defense are edge rushers Rueben Bain and Jayden Wayne, defensive lineman Collins Acheampong, linebackers Malik Bryant and Bobby Washington and LB/safety Kaleb Spencer. Spencer is the only three-star.

Bain is the highest-ranked 2023 defensive signee in the Miami football class. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Bain as the 63rd prospect, 11th best edge rusher and 15th in the 2023 class in Florida out of Miami Central. Bain was an elite high school pass rusher with 150 career tackles, 94 tackles for loss and 58 sacks.

Wayne is nearly equally regarded as the 82nd-best prospect, 13th edge rusher and 21st in Florida in the 2023 class out of IMG Academy. Wayne is one of four Miami signees from IMG, but the only one on defense. At 6’5, 245 pounds, Wayne provides Miami with excellent length that Bain doesn’t have at 6’3.

Acheampong is one of the most intriguing players in the 2023 class at 6’7, 254 pounds. The length and athleticism Acheampong provides at his size are reminiscent of former Miami DL Greg Rousseau who now plays for the Buffalo Bills. Acheampong who flipped from Michigan to Miami in November also played basketball.

Bryant is one of four linebackers Miami signed in the 2023 class with three blue-chippers. The 247 composite rankings place Bryant at the top among the 2023 LBs Miami signed.

Bryant is a productive player

that had 73 tackles, 10 TFLs and six sacks as a senior for Orlando Jones after returning home from IMG.

Washington signed and enrolled with his brother Robby, but the two are very different players. Robby is an explosive wide receiver at 5’10, 185 pounds. Bobby is 6’3, 215 pounds, but not nearly as highly rated as Robby. Washington had 52 tackles, 15 TFLs and eight sacks for Palmetto as a senior.

Spencer is an intriguing prospect who the Miami staff reportedly has higher rated than his three-star status. On his 247 Sports profile, Spencer is listed as a LB but some of his projections have him playing safety in college. Spencer is a potential redshirt candidate for Miami during the 2023 season

Four-star cornerbacks Robert Stafford and Damari Brown, linebacker Raul Aguirre and Marcellius Pulliam and defensive tackle Joshua Horton are the 2023 Miami signees on defense who will enroll later this year. Aguirre, Brown and Stafford all have the potential to make an impact during their true freshmen seasons.
