The Miami basketball team returns to the Watsco Center after a week off for its biggest regular season game since winning the ACC in 2013. At least a share of the ACC Regular season championship and the number one seed in the conference tournament next week is on the line versus Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Miami and Pittsburgh both had surprising losses in the last week. Miami’s epic collapse and buzzer-beating loss to Florida State last Saturday have been constantly replayed nationally throughout the week. Pittsburgh was upset on Wednesday at Notre Dame in Mike Brey’s last home game after 23 years coaching the Fighting Irish.

Miami lost to Florida State without Nijel Pack who leads the Hurricanes in scoring in ACC play. Jim Larranaga said during media availability on Friday that Pack was limited in practice yesterday. Bensley Joseph will receive the majority of the playing time for Miami if Pack cannot play or has limited minutes.

Miami, Pittsburgh and Virginia are all 14-5 in the ACC entering the final day of the regular season. The Hurricanes and Panthers both own tiebreakers versus Virginia after defeating the Cavaliers this season. Pittsburgh defeated Miami in their first meeting this season. The Panthers finished the game on an 11-0 run.

Miami needs a win over Pittsburgh to avoid losing consecutive games for the first time this season. Closing the game out strong will be critical for Miami. Too often this season Miami has not made key plays late in games. Miami will have its first official sellout crowd of the season on Saturday night behind them.
