The Miami Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams earned impressive wins on Friday to advance to the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament. On Saturday the Miami football team will hold its first scrimmage of the spring according to head coach Mario Cristobal and the baseball team lost at Wake Forest.

The incredible runs by the Miami Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams have been over five higher-seeded teams. The Miami women’s team is the ninth seed and has beaten eighth-seeded Oklahoma State, number one seed Indiana on their homecourt and fourth-seed Villanova on Friday.

The fifth-seeded Miami Men’s basketball team defeated 12th-seed Drake in the first round, fourth-seed Indiana in the second and number-one seed Houston in the Midwest Regional Semifinals on Friday night. Miami is the only basketball program to advance to the Elite Eight in each ofSemithe last two years.

The first scrimmage for the Miami football team will provide Mario Cristobal a chance to view the newcomers on the Hurricanes’ coaching staff, through the transfer portal and early enrollee freshman. The scrimmage is the first chance for new Miami offensive and defensive coordinators to debut their systems in game conditions.

The Miami baseball team was the third big Hurricanes program to have a big game on Friday. Wake Forest scored four runs in the third inning and four in the fourth on their way to an 11-0 win over Miami. The second-ranked Demon Deacons improved to 20-3 this season and Miami dropped to 15-7.

The incredible day of basketball for the Miami Hurricanes was noticed throughout social media. NBA legend Magic Johnson and rapper Lil’ Wayne were among those celebrating the hoop wins. The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team will tip off on Sunday at 5 PM ET versus Texas on Sunday with a chance to make the first Final Four in program history.
