National CFB expert projects 4-star QB Air Noland Miami football commitment

Adam Gorney the Rivals.com National Recruiting Director projects the Miami football program to receive a commitment from four-star 2024 quarterback Air Noland in an article published on Monday morning titled “Gorney’s predictions: Where will the top 10 uncommitted QBs land?”

Rivals ranks Noland as the 232nd-ranked prospect nationally, 33rd in Georgia out of Fairburn Langston Hughes and the 11th pro-style quarterback. Noland would be a foundational player in the 2024 Miami recruiting class. Kicker Abram Murray is the only player committed to the Miami football program for 2024.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine agrees with the projection by Gorney with the Miami football program leading for a commitment from Noland having a 19.8 percent chance, Texas A&M second at 17.3 and Alabama with a 10.1 percent chance. No crystal balls have been logged for Noland by 247 Sports.

Noland posted a picture of him with Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith. Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson coached Smith at West Virginia. Smith is the cousin of former Miami running back Melvin Bratton and five-star 2024 wide receiver Jeremiah Smith who is committed to Ohio State.

But this feels as if it’s coming down to a battle between Texas A&M and Miami for his services.Recent commitments in both College Station and Coral Gables should not scare away Noland so he remains a viable candidate for both programs and right now it feels like a toss-up. Texas A&M already has a 2024 commitment from QB Anthony Maddox from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Alabama has a commitment from 2024 five-star QB Julian Sayin. Miami will be able to sell Noland that he would be the primary QB in their 2024 class. The Hurricanes could sign two 2024 QBs.

Miami is expected to lose QB Tyler Van Dyke after the 2023 season. Van Dyke has eligibility remaining through the 2024 season. True freshman Emory Williams an early enrollee participating in spring practice and rising sophomore Jacurri Brown are the only other scholarship QBs on the 2023 Miami roster.

There has been some speculation that Miami could add a veteran QB through the transfer portal window in April. Miami needs experience and depth at QB. For the future, Miami needs to continue upgrading the talent at depth at QB. The hiring of Dawson as offensive coordinator should help Miami attract QB talent in the future.
