Miami Hurricanes News: FB back at practice Thursday, Final 4 preparations
The Miami Hurricanes football team is back at practice on Thursday. Head coach Jim Larranaga and players Bensley Joseph and Isaiah Wong spoke to the media before the Miami basketball team boarded busses to fly to Houston for the Final Four. The Miami Hurricanes football team will hold its eighth spring practice on Thursday. Thursday is the halfway point of spring practice. Miami has seven practices remaining after Thursday including the spring game on April 14 at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. We have not heard from the new Miami position coaches.
Jim Larrananga has been busy all week with local and national media appearances. Larrananga has been on CBS Sports and spoke to reporters on Wednesday as well as Joseph and Wong before boarding the team buses to the airport before leaving for Houston. The Miami players have been self motivated per Larranaga.
Kaufman reported that the 700 student tickets and 3,000 allowed generally to Miami sold out almost immediately. Among the former Miami players requesting tickets included Mario Bland, Eric Brown, Steve Edwards, Alex Fraser, Tim James, Jack McClinton, Constantin Popa, Kevin Presto, Darius Rice and Joel Warren.
Current Los Angeles Lakers and recent Hurricanes Davon Reed and Lonnie Walker will be in Houston on Sunday to play the Rockets and could potentiall attend the Connecticut-Miami game per Kaufman. Mario Cristobal is expected to be in Houston as well as Miami football alums Reggie Wayne, Michael Irvin and Edgerrin James.
The Miami basketball program will be on an unpreecendted stage. Playing in the Final Four is the biggest stage for a Miami Hurricanes team since the football prorgram won the 2001 National Championship in the 2002 Rose Bowl. Miami has not won a team national championship since earning the glass in Pasadena.
