The Miami Hurricanes baseball team earned a three-game sweep over Florida State this weekend. David Lake of Inside the U transcribed the interview of Mario Cristobal discussing the second spring scrimmage on Saturday and the Miami football team is trending for a four-star 2024 local safety.

With their 13-4 win over Florida State on Saturday the Miami Hurricanes baseball team completed their eighth-ever three-game sweep of Florida State. Miami won the series opener 11-0 on Friday night and 3-2 on Saturday. The Hurricanes improved to 19-9 overall and 8-4 in the ACC with the series sweep of FSU.

Miami football radio analyst Don Bailey Jr. interviewed Cristobal after the scrimmage on Saturday. Lake transcribed the interview. Cristobal praised the young Miami players for making plays, the importance of culture, finishing, technique and fundamentals. Cristobal has been pleased with how Miami has performed offensively.

New offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson has the offense playing fast per Cristobal. Most of the offense has been installed and streamlined which has allowed the Miami offense to play fast per Cristobal. New defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was praised by Cristobal as an excellent teacher and connector.

Miami is widening its lead for four-star 2024 safety Zaquan Patterson

according to On3. Miami has a 90.9 percent chance to earn a commitment for Patterson per the On3 Recruiting prediction. Stephen Wagner of CaneSport wrote that Patterson told them Miami feels like home and he’s enthusiastic about Guidry.

Wagner also reported that “Miami was ‘in the lead as much as being in my top five” and that he plans on taking an official visit to Coral Gables this summer. The On3 composite rankings have Patterson as the 78th-ranked prospect, sixth safety and 11th in Florida in the 2024 class.

Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald profiled Hurricanes basketball players reflecting on the loss to UConn in the Final Four. Bensley Joseph, Norchad Omier and Nijel Pack reiterated head coach Jim Larranaga that they were out of sync all game versus the Huskies. It was the first time Miami did not lead in a game all season.

The 13-point loss was only the second this season Miami lost by double digits. Maryland defeated Miami 88-70 for their first loss of the season in November. Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong spoke about the foundation Miami has set in basketball over the last two seasons. Miami should have a strong foundation returning next season.
