Miami Hurricanes News: Hoops transfers and added opponent, football spring practice

The Miami Hurricanes basketball team has lost three transfers since Tuesday. Favour Aire and Danilo Jovanovich their entry into the transfer portal on Tuesday and Anthony Walker on Wednesday. Spring practice resumes for the football team on Thursday. There has been a lot of buzz about the Miami offensive line this spring.

The departures of Aire, Jovanovich and Walker are the first three transfers from the Miami Hurricanes basketball program in two years. Expect Jim Larrananga and his staff to search the transfer portal for front-court depth. Norchad Omier and A.J. Casey are the only returning Miami frontcourt players entering the offseason.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald had an extensive report on the Hurricanes’ Spring Practice.  Jackson highlighted the OL, if the Miami Hurricanes football program will sign a QB to challenge Jacurri Brown to be the primary backup, improvement of the wide receivers, linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and the cornerback depth chart.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports tweeted on Wednesday that the Miami basketball team will host Central Florida on November 10 as part of a multi-year series. UCF moving to the Big XII beginning with the 2023-24 school year will help Miami in the NCAA Net Ratings playing the Knights. Miami won 66-64 at UCF this past season.

Four-star Loganville, Georgia Grayson tight end Kylan Fox named the Miami Hurricanes football program with Central Florida, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Mississippi as his finalists. The competition for Fox is wide open. Florida State is the leader with a 17.5 percent chance for Fox commitment per On3.Com.

Georgia Tech is second at 10.3 percent, UCF at 7.4 percent, Miami at 7.4 percent, Colorado at 3.8 percent and Mississippi at two percent from the finalists. Two outsiders, Georgia at 8.8 percent and North Carolina State at 5.6 percent are also listed in the running for a commitment from Fox per On3.
