Quarterback Jacurri Brown, defensive lineman Jacob Liechtenstein, wide receivers Jacolby George, Isaiah Horton and Brashard Smith, and head coach Mario Cristobal spoke with the media after the second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday. The Miami Hurricanes baseball team lost 6-5 at Virginia on Saturday.

Brown spoke about what he needs to improve, his relationship with Tyler Van Dyke, new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson and had an interesting take on why Tom Brady has had a much longer career than Cam Newton. Since signing in 2022, Brown has added 30 pounds per Susan Miller-Degnan of the Miami Herald.

The WRs praised their new position coach Kevin Beard saying he connects with the players better. True Nathaniel Joseph,  Xavier Restrepo and Smith should provide Miami with the strength of its passing game at slot receiver. George, Horton and Colbie Young will likely compete for the other two starting WR spots.

Cristobal praised the Miami defense after the second scrimmage. Per Cristobal via Christopher Stock of Inside the U, the defense did a good job of stopping the run and putting the offense “in difficult in down-and-distance situations.” Liechtenstein was among the DL mentioned b Cristobal.

The Miami Hurricanes baseball team went back and forth with Virginia until a sixth-inning double capped the scoring to give the Cavaliers a 6-5 win. Miami will attempt to prevent a Virginia sweep on Sunday. Dominic Pitelli had three hits and drove in and scored a run. Miami starter Alejandro Rosario allowed five runs in 4.1 innings.
