Miami Hurricanes News: Last spring practice, hoops transfer updates
The Miami Hurricanes football team will hold its last practice of the spring on Thursday before the annual spring game at DRV PNK Stadium on Friday night. Florida State forward Matthew Cleveland entered the transfer portal on Wednesday and Miami was one of the programs named as a potential suitor.
After getting swept at Virginia last weekend and with no midweek game this week the Miami baseball team plays a three-game series at North Carolina from Thursday through Saturday. Miami fell to 20-12 overall and 8-7 in the ACC after being swept by Virginia. Virginia is 11-4 in the ACC and North Carolina is 8-5.
Greg Biggins of 247 Sports broke down the contenders for five-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland. Biggins reported that Breland will be at the Miami spring game on Friday. Miami is one of the programs recruiting Breland the hardest. Breland said the Miami coaches are genuine and he enjoyed talking with Joe Salave’a.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald transcribed the interviews of defensive line coach Jason Taylor and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal by Joe Zagacki on Hurricane Hotline on Wednesday night. Taylor said that the Miami DL has been productive with a lot of things to improve on in the last two days of spring practice.
Taylor stated that they will go on the road to improve some areas. The expectation should be that Miami is still looking to add depth to the DL. The players have responded to the coaching and demands per Taylor. Several Miami Hurricanes DL have praised Taylor throughout spring practice and their ability to work with him.
Mirabal spoke about working with new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. Mirabal praised Dawson for his positive energy and the evolution of the Air Raid offense that Dawson originated from. Expect a lot of different looks at sets from Miami offensively this fall. Dawson will slightly debut his Miami offense on Friday night.
