The Miami Hurricanes baseball team earned a huge weekend series win at North Carolina on Saturday. A day after the Miami football team held its annual spring game at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale analysis continued. Saturday was the official opening of the spring transfer portal window.

The Miami Hurricanes baseball team won the opening game of the series at North Carolina 5-4 on Thursday night. North Carolina won game two 9-8 in 11 innings. Game two was suspended due to rain in the eighth inning on Friday night and concluded on Saturday. Miami finished the series with a 4-3 win on Saturday.

Miami returns home to host Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night and plays at Florida Atlantic on Wednesday in the Hurricanes’ midweek games.  Miami returns to Coral Gables next weekend for the first home ACC series in three weeks versus Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes are 22-13 overall and 10-8 in the ACC.

The Miami spring game on Saturday night was the debut of the new systems of defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. Freshman defensive lineman Rueben Bain was the defensive star with three sacks. Tyler Van Dyke looked comfortable in the new offense.

David Lake of Inside the U examined the Tyler Van Dyke and the UM passing game flashed explosive potential during Friday’s spring game.” Miami had several big plays in the passing game from Van Dyke and true freshman Emory Williams. Jacurri Brown continued to struggle with his accuracy.

Also on Saturday, several media outlets reported that DeMarcus Dyke who was a defensive analyst last season is leaving the Miami football program to become the cornerbacks’ coach at FIU. Van Dyke was the Miami CBs coach prior to Mario Cristobal being hired as the Hurricanes’ head coach in December 2021.

Saturday is the first official day of the spring transfer portal that will last through April 30. Miami tight end Khalil Brantley officially entered the transfer portal on Saturday after initially announcing his intention to transfer in March. Chris Hummer of 247 Sports highlighted the transfer portal and they have a tracker of transfers.
