Miami Hurricanes News: Isaiah Wong makes decision, bats versus B-C, more commits
As expected Miami Hurricanes star guard Isaiah Wong announced on Monday his intention to enter the NBA Draft. The Miami basketball and football teams received more commitments on Monday. The Miami baseball team returns home for the first time in two weeks when they host Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night.
Wong leaves the Miami Hurricanes basketball program as one of the most prolific players ever. Among the more impressive numbers is that Wong is the fourth leading scorer in Miami history. Wong will primarily be remembered for staying leading Miami to back-to-back Elite Eights and the Hurricanes’ first-ever Final Four.
Three-star running back Chris Wheatley-Humphrey committed to the Miami football program on Monday. Wheatley-Humphrey averaged 16.7 yards per carry as a junior in 2022. Miami has five 2024 commits that includes wide receiver Chance Robinson who committed on Friday and defensive back Dylan Day on Sunday.
The Miami women’s basketball team gained a commitment from 5’5 2024 four-star point guard Ahnay Adams on Monday. Adams commits to Miami after the Hurricanes received a commitment from Arizona transfer guard Lemyah Hylton on Sunday. Miami does not have any commits or National Letters of Intent for 2023.

The Miami baseball team returns home on Tuesday night following a huge series win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill this weekend. Miami is 22-13 overall, 10-8 in the ACC and moved back into the national polls on Monday as the 17th ranked team. Miami plays at FAU on Wednesday after hosting Bethune-Cookman.
David Lake of Inside the U wrote about “Four defensive tackle options in the transfer portal that make sense for Miami.” Mario Cristobal has consistently stated since December that Miami is not finished in the transfer portal. Defensive tackle and wide receiver are the two positions Miami is expected to target.
Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports named Mario Cristobal as one of “Seven college football coaches under the most pressure entering the 2023 season.” Sallee stated about the 2022 5-7 record”injuries had a little bit to do with that, but lack of success with its NIL program should (and did) instill a “win now” mentality.”
