The Miami football program is gaining momentum for five-star Chicago St. Ignatius defensive tackle Justin Scott, following his weekend visit. Rivals.Com National Recruiting Director Adam Scott examined the RUMOR: Miami is becoming a real player for five-star DT Justin Scott.”

Scott is the eighth-ranked prospect, top DT and number one recruit in Illinois per the Rivals.Com rankings. Notre Dame is the favorite to receive a commitment from Scott. The Rivals.Com future cast projects the Fighting Irish with a 100 percent chance to receive a commitment from Scott. On3 projects Notre Dame at 78.4 percent.

Scott also has two 247 Sports crystal balls that project his commitment to Notre Dame. The Miami football program and Notre Dame are the only programs that Scott has visited multiple times. Scott has official visits scheduled with Georgia on June 2, Miami on June 17 and Ohio State on June 23 per his On3 profile.

Georgia is currently the second favorite for a commitment from Scott at 13.4 percent and Miami is at 2.9 percent per On3. Miami currently has six commits in its 2024 class, but none on the defensive line. Mario Cristobal is reportedly making the DL a priority like the defensive line was in the 2023 class.

Absolutely. Did he spend a lot of time around Miami’s excellent staff and a ton of recruits? Yes. But this has been Notre Dame’s recruitment to lose and I’ve heard numerous times that his family would love it if he stayed closer to home as the Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius standout works through his recruitment. If there’s one major threat to the Irish, it would be Georgia at this point. Everything about the Miami visit went well and the Hurricanes are doing everything to steal the five-star defensive lineman but I’m not yet convinced it will happen.”"

Scott would be a foundational player for a Miami recruiting class that has only one blue-chip commit. Four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson committed to the Miami football program on Friday night. Miami currently has the 25th-ranked recruiting class after receiving a commitment from offensive lineman Juan Minaya on Tuesday.

Miami has offered scholarships to eight defensive linemen per 247 Sports. Eight of the DL offered scholarships by Miami are strongly considering the Hurricanes. Five-star David Stone is another elite prospect Miami is strongly recruiting. If Miami can sign two or three of those eight that would be an elite DL line recruiting class.
