The Miami Hurricanes football team received its sixth 2024 commitment on Tuesday from offensive lineman Juan Minaya. The Miami baseball team defeated Bethune-Cookman 12-6 on Tuesday night. Also on Tuesday Jim Larranaga and Isaiah Wong met with the media following the Hurricane star’s declaration for the NBA Draft.

Minaya is the first OL and sixth commitment overall in the 2024 Miami recruiting class. The Hurricanes have received five 2024 commitments this month. Minaya is listed by On3 as the 815th prospect, 60th offensive tackle and 16th recruit in New Jersey in the 2024 Class.

The Miami baseball team took a 10-0 lead after five innings and held on for the 12-6 win over Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night. Miami improved to 23-13 overall with the win. Five Miami players finished the game with two hits. Ben Chestnutt pitched 5.1 innings allowing one earned run for the win.

Larranaga spoke about the impact of the transfer portal. He expects starters Norchad Omier, Nijel Pack and Wooga Poplar to return. With the unpredictability of the transfer portal, Larranaga stated that anything is possible. Miami will ideally bring in two transfers to replace Jordan Miller and Wong.

David Lake of Inside the U examined the ESPN Football Power Index projections for the Miami Hurricanes football team in 2023. Miami is ranked 29th in the FPI which places them fourth in the ACC behind Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina. The Hurricanes are projected to have a 7-5 record in 2023.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald did a deep dive into how the Hurricanes’ defense performed throughout spring practice and in the spring game. The observations from Jackson included freshman DL Ruben Bain, projected starting linebacker Francisco Mauigoa and cornerback depth.

The Miami football program is one of eight finalists for 2024 linebacker Brayden Platt. Platt tweeted his “Recruitment 100% open still.” Branden Huffman of 247 Sports quoted Platt saying that “Miami is a beautiful place to be at with a great history of producing linebackers.” Platt is the 91st-ranked prospect and ninth LB.
