Miami football second most players drafted from ACC since 2014

On the ACC Network show ACC PM on Friday examined various NFL Draft numbers by conference schools. After listing the most overall draftees since 2014 they examined the most draftees in the ACC by offensive position. The Miami football program is second overall in the ACC and at nearly every offensive position since 2014.

Clemson leads the ACC with 48 total draftees since 2014, Miami is second with 41, Florida State has had 38 and North Carolina has had 25 in the last nine NFL Drafts. Clemson has had 13 first-round picks since 2014. Miami has only had six players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2014.

Brad Kaaya is the only quarterback from the Miami football program drafted since 2014. Kaaya was selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Prior to Kaaya, Ken Dorsey was the last Miami QB drafted. Dorsey was selected in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.

Miami is ranked in the top four programs in the ACC at every other offensive position among NFL Draftees since 2014. Clemson leads the ACC with 10 wide receivers drafted since 2014. North Carolina is second with five WRs drafted since 2014 and Miami has had four. K.J. Osborn was the last Miami WR drafted in 2020.

Miami has continued living up to its standing as tight end U. Since 2014 Miami leads the ACC with four tight ends drafted. Virginia Tech is second in the ACC with three TEs drafted and Boston College and Florida State are tied for third with two each. Will Mallory is expected to add to that number in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Miami is second to North Carolina for ACC programs in running backs drafted since 2014. North Carolina has had five RBs drafted since 2014, Florida State and Miami have had four and Clemson has had three. DeeJay Dallas was the last Miami RB drafted in 2020. The Seattle Seahawks chose Dallas in the fourth round.

Florida State leads the ACC with six offensive linemen selected in the NFL Draft since 2014. Miami, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech are tied for second with five OL drafted since 2014. Guard Danny Isidor who was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft was the last Miami OL who was drafted.
