The Miami football program is a slight favorite in the top five for four-star St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Lyle. Lyle tweeted a top five of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Ohio State on Monday night. Miami is projected with a 27.3 percent chance for a commitment from Lyle per On3.

On3 projects Penn State second with a 23.7 percent chance for a commitment from Lyle and Florida third with a 10.6 percent chance. Those projections will have to be revised with Lyle not including Florida and Penn State in his top five. Florida State and Ohio State were next with an 8.9 percent chance for a commitment.

The On3 composite industry ranking has Lyle as the 323rd overall prospect, the 28th RB and 47th in Florida in the 2024 class. Miami received a commitment from three-star RB Chris Wheatley-Humphrey earlier this month. The Hurricanes currently have the 24th-ranked class nationally and third in the ACC per On3.

Lyle told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that “Miami is a great school surrounded by great individuals. It would be a blessing to put on for the crib!” Four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson who is the only 2024 blue chip commit to the Miami football program is a teammate of Lyle at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Lyle visited Miami for their spring game. Penn State had a visit from Lyle this past weekend per On3. Miami and Penn State are the only programs that have received multiple visits from Lyle per his On3 profile. Lyle has an official visit scheduled at Ohio State the weekend of June 2 per his 247 Sports profile.

Lyle ran for 1,015 with 12 touchdowns averaging an eye-popping 11.2 yards per carry in 2022. Miami RBs coach Tim Harris Jr. was tagged by Lyle on the tweet announcing his top five. At 6’0 and 190 pounds Lyle already has excellent size for a college RB. At 5’11.5 and 170 pounds, Wheatley-Humphrey will have to bulk up.
