Miami football passes ND trending for 5-star DT Justin Scott

The Miami football program has passed Notre Dame in trending for five-star Chicago St. Ignatius defensive tackle Justin Scott. Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports Director of Football Recruiting logged a crystal ball for Scott to commit to Miami on Thursday. There is a 44.8 percent chance for a Miami commitment from Scott per On3.

Tom Loy of the 247 Sports Notre Dame site Irish Illustrated logged a crystal ball for Scott to South Bend in January. The other projections from the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine give Notre Dame a 37.4 percent chance for a Scott commitment, have Georgia at 12.2 percent and Ohio State at 1.7 percent.

Scott is the 13th-ranked prospect, third DL and top recruit in Illinois in the 2024 class per the 247 Sports composite rankings. The On3 industry ranking has Scott as the 11th-best prospect, third DL and top recruit in Illinois. Per On3 “The Hurricanes’ odds rose following industry updates.” that was probably related to Wiltfong’s crystal ball.

Per On3 Scott has scheduled official visits to Georgia the weekend of June 2, Miami the weekend of June 16, and Ohio State the weekend of June 23. Scott visited Miami the weekend of the spring game earlier this month per his 247 Sports timeline. Notre Dame also received an unofficial visit from Notre Dame in April per On3.

Stephen Wagner of CaneSport reported that Scott took his unofficial visit to Miami for nearly a week in April. At 6’5 and 310 pounds Scott would be an anchor on the defensive line for the Miami football program. Miami currently has seven 2024 commits but none on the defensive line. The DL is a priority for Miami in 2024.

Wiltfong stated on his podcast that he likes where Miami is right now for Scott. Getting the crystal ball from Wiltfong who is one of the most well-connected and known national recruiting analysts is a positive for Miami. The Hurricanes are attempting to sign their second straight top 10 class.
