Oklahoma transfer cornerback Jaden Davis tweeted on Monday night that he is returning to South Florida where he starred in high school at St. Thomas Aquinas to join the Miami football program. Davis provides Miami with an experienced CB who started 22 games and played 47 in four seasons with the Sooners.

Davis has 103 career tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception and 10 pass breakups. As a 2019 signee with Oklahoma, Davis was the 225th prospect, 25th CB and 32nd player in Florida. Davis will reunite with Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor who was in the same position at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Per David Lake of Inside the U Davis played 1,499 snaps over his four seasons with Oklahoma. Davis received a 60.8 grade in coverage and an 85.4 tackling grade. Lake also relayed that Davis allowed 16 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown with two pass breakups on 30 targets in 2022.

Davis is the second player from St. Thomas Aquinas to commit to Miami this spring. Miami previously received a commitment from 2024 four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson. Davis is listed as 5’10, 183 pounds in his Oklahoma profile. An injury sidelined Davis for the final three 2022 regular season games.

Davis is the third transfer CB the Miami football program has added for 2023. Davante Brown from Central Florida and Terry Roberts from Iowa previously announced their transfers to Miami. The Hurricanes also have veterans Te’Cory Couch and Darryl Porter Jr. who transferred from West Virginia in 2022 on the roster.

Davis is returning to Miami by taking advantage of his covid year that granted all college athletes an extra season of eligibility. Adding Davis provides Miami with a critical need for depth at CB. Tyrique Stevenson and D.J. Ivey were selected in the 2023 NFL Draft and Miami lost eight defensive backs total after last season.

Davis follows Brown and Porter who also returned to South Florida as transfers. Brown and Porter prepped are both alums of Fort Lauderdale American Heritage. Davis will be the only St. Thomas Aquinas alum on the Miami football roster. Davis has one season remaining of college eligibility.
