The Miami Hurricanes basketball and football programs have both had recruiting news in the last few days. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote a column discussing the recent alumni weekend for the Hurricanes’ football program with indications of what Mario Cristobal told former players to expect in 2023.

The Miami Hurricanes football program has had several offers tweeted by prospects on social media in the last few days. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U reported earlier this week that the Miami football program offered Louisiana-Lafayette cornerback Trey Amos. Miami has added three transfer CBs for 2023.

Players Miami has offered include 2024 and 2025 prospects as well as transfers. Miami has nine transfers committed for 2023 and seven prospects in the 2024 class. One of the offers is four-star 2025 tight end Davon Mitchell who named Miami with Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M as finalists.

Adam Gorney of Rivals named Miami CB Tyrique Stevenson in his examination of theNFL Draft: Ten players that helped themselves by transferring.” Gorney credits the production Stevenson had during his two seasons with Miami as a big reason he was selected in the second round instead of falling to the third round.

The summary from Jackson discussing the expectations regarding what Cristobal told alums is to anticipate Miami to be improved in 2023 and a College Football Playoff contender in 2024. Cristobal expects Miami to be a national championship contender by 2025. Jackson was also told Miami is questionable at multiple positions.

Grant Hughes of 247 Sports said the Miami Hurricanes football program has the “inside position” for a commitment from Mississippi defensive tackle and baseball player (first baseman) Twyone Malone. At Mississippi Malone had 13 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and two pass breakups in two seasons.
