Miami Hurricanes News: HOF Class, Hoops at NBA Combine
Basketball head coach Jim Larranaga will headline the Miami Hurricanes Sports Hall of Fame inductees on Thursday night. Miami basketball alums Jordan Miller and Isaiah Wong have been invited to the NBA Combine in Chicago from May 16 through 18. D1Baseball.Com updated their 2023 NCAA Tournament bracketology.
Larranaga will be inaugurated into the Miami Hurricanes Sports Hall of Fame after leading the basketball program to its first Final Four this season. The Final Four run came one year after Miami advanced to its first NCAA Tournament Regional Final in program history. Nine other Hurricanes will be inducted this weekend.
Miller and Wong will participate in the 2023 NBA Combine in Chicago with a chance to improve their draft status for next month. NBA Draft room projects Wong as the 53rd pick overall in the second round to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Miller 41st overall to the Charlotte Hornets.
The Miami baseball team is projected to host a regional in the updated NCAA Tournament bracketology by D1Baseball.Com. Miami is projected as the 11th overall national seed playing regional fourth seed Army in the first round. Second-seeded Indiana and third-seed Auburn are the other projected teams in Coral Gables.
Frank Tucker of Canes County did an extensive examination of “Miami Transfer Options as the Spring Window Comes to a Close.” Included on the list are cornerbacks Jaden Davis who committed to Miami on Tuesday and former Hurricanes commit Trequon Fagans who is leaving Alabama.
Miami is still searching for a transfer wide receiver. Michigan State WR Keon Coleman is highly sought after and frequently mentioned as a transfer that would be a perfect fit for Miami. Coleman had 58 receptions for 798 yards and seven touchdowns for the Spartans in 2022. Coleman will be connected to multiple teams.
