Grant Hughes of 247 Sports posted his ACC football power rankings: Teams who dominated spring, those with questions ahead of 2023 season” on Saturday. Following a 5-7 season the Miami football program has a lot of questions entering 2023. With new coordinators, Miami will look very different in 2023.

Mario Cristobal hired Shannon Dawson as the new offensive coordinator and Lance Guidry as the new Miami defensive coordinator. After high profile hirings of Josh Gattis as offensive coordinator and Kevin Steele as defensive coordinator for the 2022 season, Cristobal went more with style over substance.

Dawson brings a modified version of the Air Raid offense. Dawson began his coaching career as an assistant to Hal Mumme one of the founders of the Air Raid. Miami should have a more explosive offense with Dawson calling plays in 2023. Expect Tyler Van Dyke to return closer to his 2021 form.

Guidry runs a defense that uses multiple looks. Marshall had an elite defense last season led by Guidry. The Thundering Herd finished in the top 10 nationally in multiple categories. Marshall was sixth allowing 16.0 points per game and eighth allowing 294.5 total yards per game. Hughes profiled Miami’s spring.

"4. MIAMI HURRICANES“Post-spring thoughts: Miami finished fifth in the ACC in passing yards per game last season (241.3) and should take another step in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson, who guided Houston to a top-20 scoring offense last season.Tyler Van Dyke is back at quarterback and should play behind a much-improved offensive line, which added two four-star transfers and a duo of five-star tackles on the recruiting trail. The Hurricanes return seven starters on defense, add two top-100 recruits on the defensive line and six transfers.”"

Miami added center Matthew Lee from Central Florida and guard Javion Cohen from Alabama as transfers to its 2023 roster. Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola are the five-star offensive tackles Miami signed in the 2023 class. Cohen and Lee are near-guaranteed starters and Mauigoa and Okunlola should be in the rotation.

The top 100 recruits Hughes mentioned are defensive linemen Rueben Bain and Jayden Wayne. Miami added defensive tackles Branson Deen and Thomas Gore, middle linebacker Francisco Mauigoa (brother of Francis) and cornerbacks Davonte Brown, Jaden Davis and Terry Roberts as transfers for 2023.
