Miami Hurricanes News: UM Kentucky Derby Connection, bats win
Ramiro Restrepo the owner of Kentucky Derby winner Mage is a Miami alum. The Miami Hurricanes baseball team earned another easy win with a 12-1 victory over Presbyterian. Power rankings are out for ACC Football from 247 Sports. Florida State transfer forward Matthew Cleveland is announcing on Sunday.
Restrepo graduated from Miami with a business degree in 2000. Per Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald, the Kentucky Derby was the first race for Mage on a track other than Gulfstream Park. Restrepo comes from a family of horse racing enthusiasts and he learned the sport at Hialeah Park.
After a 13-4 win on Friday night, the Miami baseball team clinched a series win versus Presbyterian with the win on Saturday night. Miami has won five of its last six games. Alejandro Rosario was brilliant for Miami pitching six innings allowing three hits, no walks and striking out 12.
Third baseman Jason Torres who hit ninth had three hits in four at-bats with three runs scored and five RBIs. Miami improves to 30-16 with the win. The Hurricanes are competing for a chance to host a regional in the NCAA Tournament beginning on June 2. Miami began the weekend 13th in the RPI.
Cleveland is down to Auburn, Miami and Missouri as his finalists. On3 lists Miami as the prohibitive favorite for a commitment from Cleveland at 92.6 percent. Auburn is second at 4.0 percent. That is a major change from Friday when Auburn was listed as the favorite at 38.1 percent and Missouri was at 33.3 percent.

The Miami football team has had a big weekend hosting transfers. With the transfer portal closing on April 30, players are taking their visits and could be making decisions soon on their next collegiate destinations. Miami most recently received a commitment from Oklahoma transfer cornerback Jaden Davis this week.
