The 15 best Miami football NFL careers in Hurricanes history
No. 6 Miami football NFL career in league history: Ted Hendricks
1969 NFL Draft: Round 2, Pick 33
Baltimore Colts, 1969–1973
Green Bay Packers, 1974
Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders, 1975–1983
Ted Hendricks was a bad man (in a good way football-wise) who unofficially recorded 363 tackles, 60.5 sacks, 26 interceptions, and 16 fumble recoveries over 14 years with the Baltimore Colts, Green Bay Packers, and the Raiders. Raiders Today’s Tom LaMarre broke down how his massive personality was a match to the big-game performer’s on-field intensity.
“Hendricks was known to be a little goofy and was nicknamed ‘The Mad Stork’ and ‘Kick ‘Em in the Head, Ted,'” LaMarre prefaced before saying, “He once rode a horse onto the Raiders’ practice field during training camp and also wore a huge harlequin mask over the bottom half of his face on the bench when they showed him on TV during a nationally-televised Monday Night Football Game. However, when it was time to play, Ted Hendricks was one of the best linebackers in NFL history.”
Hendricks famously played in 215 consecutive regular-season games and was a four-time Super Bowl winner.
