Miami football high in mix as finalist for 4-star DT Aydin Breland
The Miami football program is ranked as having the fourth best chance for a commitment from four-star 2024 defensive tackle Aydin Breland after being named in his top 10 on Friday night. Breland named Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC as his other nine finalists.
When he was still coaching Oregon Mario Cristobal offered Breland a scholarship when he was in eighth grade. The 247 Sports rankings list Breland as the 37th best prospect, sixth defensive lineman and third player in California out of legendary Santa Ana Mater Dei. Breland has taken two unofficial visits to Miami.
USC is the projected leader with a 21.4 percent chance for a commitment from Breland per On3. Georgia is second at 18.7 percent, followed by Oregon at 10.9 percent and Miami with a 9.0 percent chance for a commitment from Breland. Seven programs are listed with a 4.7 percent chance for a Breland commitment.
Breland has taken unofficial visits to 11 different programs per On3. No official visits are scheduled yet. Breland told 247 Sports he will take five or six official visits under the new rules. Georgia and Miami will receive two of the official visits per Breland as told to 247 Sports. Breland is still figuring out the other visits.
Breland also told Biggins he plans to commit late this summer to concentrate on his senior season and school. Chad Simmons of On3 also spoke to Breland. Breland told Simmons that finding a school that provides NFL quality development. Miami had a DL drafted from 2016-2022 before the streak ended this year.
Breland spent time with Cristobal and DL coaches Joe Salave’a and Jason Taylor. Salave’a is listed as the primary recruiter for Breland and Taylor secondary by On3. Breland would be a foundational player in the 2024 Miami football class and the highest-rated prospect in this cycle for the Hurricanes.
