The Miami football program moved to 24th nationally with a commitment from three-star 2024 Miami Central linebacker Vincent Shavers on Friday. Shavers is the 722nd prospect, 66th LB and 102nd player in Florida in the Class of 2024. Shavers had 56 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and eight sacks for Monsignor Pace in 2022.

Miami would sign a Miami Central player for the third year in a row with Shavers. Linebacker Wesley Bissainthe signed with the Miami football program in the 2022 class and the Hurricanes signed defensive lineman Rueben Bain in the 2023 class. The Hurricanes are building a key pipeline with Miami Central.

Shavers is the fifth-highest-ranked 2024 Miami commit. Four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson is the only 2024 Miami blue-chip commit. Also ahead of Shavers in the 2024 Miami class are safeties Isaiah Thomas and Dylan Day and running back Chris Wheatley-Humphey. Shaver is the first 2024 Miami LB commit.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports observed that Shavers was a stand-up pass rusher as a sophomore. Shavers had 69 tackles and eight sacks during his sophomore season in 2021. New Miami LBs coach Derek Nicholson helped close the recruitment of Shavers after his predecessors initiated contact.

At 6’1 and 205 pounds Shavers needs to fill out in college. Shavers will join four LBs that signed with the Miami football program in 2023. That includes four-star signees, Raul Aguirre and Malik Bryant. The future for Miami at LB is promising. Keontra Smith is the only LB on the 2023 Miami roster entering his last season of eligibility.

Shavers should be a player that eventually competes to be a starter for Miami. Prior to competing to be a starter, Shavers has the versatility to contribute on special teams. Miami is building a deep LB corps for the future. Expect Miami to add more LBs as the 2024 class continue to grow until Early National Signing Day in December.
