Miami Hurricanes News: Bats hosting NCAA regional, recruiting updates
The Miami Hurricanes baseball team entered Monday knowing they would be hosting a regional in the NCAA Tournament. Miami found out on Sunday that Texas, Louisiana and Maine are three teams in their regional. The Miami football program leads after being named in the top five for three-star edge rusher Wyatt Gilmore.
The Miami Hurricanes baseball team is hosting a regional for the second straight season. Miami fell short of earning a top-eight national seed. The top eight seeds are also in line to host the Super Regional. The Coral Gables Regional winner will play the Palo Alto Regional winner in the Super Regional.
On3 projects Miami with a 35.6 percent chance for a commitment from Gilmore. Miami has thrived signing edge rushers in the first two classes under Mario Cristobal. Gilmore also named Kansas State, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Oregon in his top five. Miami is hosting Gilmore for an official visit this weekend.
In honor of the NCAA Tournament this weekend, the Mark Light Shakes will honor Louisiana, Maine and Texas with shakes befitting those regions. The Louisiana shake will have Cajun spices, vanilla and Tabasco sauce. The Maine shake will have butter, lobster and vanilla. Texas will be honored with a BBQ sauce, Brisket and vanilla shake.
FanDuel lists the Miami Hurricanes baseball team at +3600 in their College World Series odds. Wake Forest who Miami upset in the ACC Tournament semifinals is the prohibitive favorite at +380. Miami has the 11th-best odds by Fan Duel. Texas is also listed at +3600. Louisiana and Maine are at +20,000.
Joe Spears of On3 wrote that “Miami ‘in the mix’ for On3 No. 1 recruit Dylan Stewart.” The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Ohio State as the favorite at 34.3 percent, Alabama is second with a 30.0 percent chance for a commitment from Stewart and Miami is third at 23.2 percent.
