The Miami Hurricanes football team is 12th nationally with a blue chip ratio of 61 percent. Joe Lunardi of ESPN released an update of his bracketology on Tuesday and has the Miami basketball team as a nine-seed in the South region. Francis Mauigoa was named a Miami instant impact transfer.
The Miami Hurricanes football program is one of 16 nationally that has a blue chip ratio of at least 50 percent. Bud Elliott of 247 Sports examined the blue-chip ratios. Every national champion during the College Football Playoff era has had a blue chip ratio of at least 60 percent. Miami has often had a blue chip ratio of over 50 percent.
The Miami basketball team’s projection of a nine-seed was surprising. Miami returns starters Norchad Omier, Nijel Pack and Wooga Poplar. Sixth man Bensley Joseph is expected to move into the starting lineup and will be joined by Florida State transfer Matthew Cleveland. Other sites project Miami with a higher seed.
Lake examined “A look at what it will take for Miami to have the best defensive line class (on paper) during the 2024 cycle.” for Inside the U on Tuesday. After signing one of the top offensive line classes in 2023, Miami is competing with several highly-ranked defensive linemen in the 2024 class.
Steve Lassan of Athlon Sports listed the transfer additions for all 133 FBS teams in 2023. Miami has 14 incoming transfers to the 2023 roster. The Hurricanes have the seventh-best transfer class according to 247 Sports. Miami has greatly upgraded its OL and wide receiver corps and added depth at cornerback via transfers.
Chance Linton of 247 Sports analyzed the final top 25 2023 transfer rankings. Miami guard Javion Cohen is ranked 10th. Cohen is the top-ranked 247 Sports 2023 transfer offensive lineman. Linton noted that Cohen “recorded 17 knockdown blocks…while allowing just 1.5 sacks, four pressures and four quarterback hits” in 2022.”
