Miami football pressuring USC for 4-star WR Drelon Miller
Following his official visit to Coral Gables last weekend, the Miami football team is pressuring USC for four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller according to Adam Gorney of Rivals. USC is the leader for Miller according to Gorney and the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. There are no 247 Sports crystal balls logged yet for Miller.
Miller will reportedly take an unofficial visit to LSU this weekend and an official to USC the weekend of June 16. Georgia, LSU, Texas and Texas A&M have all received multiple unofficial visits from Miller. On3 lists USC with a 49.3 percent chance for a Miller commitment and LSU at 42.4.
Miller is the 50th-ranked prospect, ninth in Texas and sixth WR in the 2024 class by Rivals. Chance Robinson is the highest-rated 2024 Miami commit and sole WR. Robinson is the 201st prospect, 36th in Florida and 27th WR in the 2024 class. Miami is also leading for five-star 2024 WR Joshisa Trader per On3.
In three seasons at Silsbee, Texas High School Miller has 103 receptions for 2,561 yards and 35 TDs with 71 carries for 569 yards and four TDs. All but 71 of the combined yards for Miller have been in the last two seasons. Miller also has a combined 302 yards in kickoff and punt returns. Gorney summarized Miller’s recruitment.
"“USC should be considered the frontrunner for the four-star receiver from Silsbee, Texas, but Miami just made things a whole lot tougher. Miller absolutely loved his trip to Coral Gables and how he fits in that offense, and now the four-star has a much tougher decision ahead. The longer this goes the more Texas A&M, LSU and others could re-emerge, but right now it looks like a two-horse race between the Trojans and the Hurricanes.”"
Miller will announce his commitment on June 29. Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson is leading the recruitment for Miller. The modified Air Raid that Dawson runs should intrigue Miami recruits. Under Dawson, Houston WR Nathaniel Dell was second nationally with 109 receptions and led FBS with 1,398 yards and 17 touchdowns.
June is a huge month for the Miami football program with about 40 official visits. Miami built the foundation of the 2023 class after official visits in June. Miller is one of five WRs taking official visits to Miami in June. Jerrae Hawkins visited last weekend with Miller. Robinson, Jeremiah Smith and Braylon Staley are the other three.
