Miami football 2024 class in top 25 with LB Cameron Pruitt commit

The 2024 Miami football class moved up to 24th in the 247 Sports composite rankings and 25th in the On3 consensus rankings with a commitment from linebacker Cameron Pruitt on Saturday night. Pruitt is listed as a four-star prospect by 247 Sports. The 247 Sports and On3 composite rankings have Pruitt as three-stars.

Pruitt is the second highest-rated 2024 Miami commit behind four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson. Robinson is the only consensus blue-chip prospect in the 2024 Miami class. Pruitt is the 403rd raked player, 39th LB and 24th prospect in Florida. Miami received the commitment from Pruitt while he was on his official visit.

Pruitt is a versatile player who is listed at 6’3, 187 pound safety by 247 Sports. As a junior last fall at Theodore, Alabama High School Pruitt had 99 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups, one interception, three forced and three quarterbacks hurries. The official visit was the third to Miami by Pruitt.

Previously Pruitt took unofficial visits to Miami in January and December. The recruitment of Pruitt was led by Miami LB coach Derek Nicholson with defensive coordinator Lance Guidry as the secondary recruiter. Per On3 the other programs Pruitt primarily considered in order were, Mississippi, Arkansas and LSU.

Pruitt is the second LB committed to the 2024 Miami class. Miami previously received a commitment from three-star LB Vincent Shavers. Miami now has 10 players committed for 2024. Miami could have a few more commits with 13 official visitors in Coral Gables this weekend. Miami should continue to rise in the 2024 rankings.

Pruitt and Shavers will joins the five LBs the Miami football program signed in the 2023 class. Kam Spencer who signed as a LB is expected to be moved to safety or the hybird LB and safety position that Miami labels star. The length and versatility Pruitt has would seem perfectly suited to potentially compete at star.
