The Miami football program is trending for four-star tight end Elija Lofton. Five different 247 Sports analysts logged crystal balls for Lofton to commit to Miami following his official visit in Coral Gables this weekend. Miami does not have a TE committed to its 2024 recruiting class.

Gaby Urrutia of Inside The U, Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports Director of Football Recruiting and Blair Angulo the 247 Sports Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst, Brandon Huffman 247 Sports the National Recruiting Editor and Greg Biggins 247 SportsNational Recruiting Analyst all logged crystal balls for Lofton to Miami.

Lofton is the 350th prospect, 16th TE and the top player in Nevada out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman in the 2024 Class. Bishop Gorman is the same program that produced current Houston Texans and former Miami Hurricanes TE Brevin Jordan. The crystal balls for Lofton to Miami came after his official visit this weekend.

Per his 247 Sports profile, Lofton previously took official visits to Arizona State and Hawaii. Lofton has an official visit scheduled to Texas this weekend. On3 projects Arizona State with a 31.1 percent chance for a commitment from Lofton, Texas at 27.2 percent, Miami at 23.3 percent and Washington at 14.7 percent.

All of the scholarship TEs on the 2023 Miami football roster have eligibility for at least 2024. Miami signed Jackson Carver and Riley Williams in their 2023 class and added transfer Cameron McCormick from Oregon in the offseason. Elijah Arroyo, Dominic Mammarelli and Jaleel Skinner return for Miami at TE in 2023.

Miami currently has the 25th rated 2024 class. A commitment from Lofton would move Miami past Louisville, Stanford and Florida into 22nd as the classes currently stand. Lofton has recorded 52 receptions for 1,263 yards, an outstanding 24.3 yards per reception as a TE with 19 touchdowns in the last two seasons.

Lofton also added 10 carries for 102 yards and seven TDs rushing in 2022. Arroyo is eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Even the potential of Lofton, Skinner and Williams would give Miami three elite receiving TEs in 2024. Lofton would also be the second blue chip commit for Miami in 2024 behind four-star WR Chance Robinson.
