Center Matt Lee and guard Javion Cohen have named by On3 to their 2023 Preseason All-Transfer Portal Team.”  Cohen and Lee are the highest rated Miami transfers per the 247 Sports rankings and the top two interior offensive lineman nationally in the On3 transfer rankings.

Cohen and Lee are near locks to start on a revamped offensive line for the Miami football team in 2023. Miami gains extensive experience with the additions of Cohen and Lee. Cohen was an immediate contributor at Alabama being named to the 2020 All-SEC Freshman Team. Cohen is the 20th overall transfer in 2023 per On3.

Lee is the 30th ranked 2023 overall transfer per On3. Miami adds Lee after he spent his first four seasons at Central Florida. Via his Miami Hurricanes profile,  Pro Football Focus gave Lee a 90.6 pass-blocking grade and 80.6 run-blocking grade in 2022. Lee is entering his fifth season of college football after redshirting in 2019.

The Miami football team should have one of the most improved offensive lines in the country in 2023 with Cohen, Lee and five-star freshman Francis Mauigoa. If Zion Nelson and Jalen Rivers can stay healthy coming off of injuries, the Miami OL can become the best unit on the team. Jesse Simonton profiled Cohen and Lee for On3.

"“C Matt Lee, Miami Lee graded out as the highest-ranking returning center in all of college football, per PFF. The former UCF starter was an All-AAC First-Team honoree in 2022 and is an excellent interior pass blocker.OG Javion Cohen, MiamiCohen started 25 games at left guard for Alabama and now will finish his career playing for Mario Cristobal. Cohen was an All-SEC performer in 2021 and has played a lot of snaps the last few years. He is considered both a solid run and pass blocker.”"

Miami was 100th nationally in 2022 allowing three sacks per game. The Hurricanes were 95th averaging 3.74 yards per carry. The almost entirely new OL should help Miami significantly improve both of those numbers in 2023. Only one of the five OL who started the 2022 season finale is expected in the rotation in 2023.

Anez Cooper was impressive as a true freshman in 2023. Cooper should compete with Rivers to be the starting right guard if Nelson is the left tackle. Rivers received significant snaps at LT this spring with Nelson still recovering from a knee injury. Cohen and Lee will also be important mentors to the younger Miami OL.
