Five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will take an official visit with the Miami football program the weekend of June 22 per On3. Smith spoke to Chad Simmons of On3 to discuss his recruitment with multiple programs. Florida State on June 20 and Penn State on June 23 will also receive official visits later this month.

Smith is listed as the second-ranked player nationally, the top WR and the number-one recruit in Florida in the Class of 2024. Miami WR coach Kevin Beard is leading the recruitment for Smith with offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson as the secondary recruiter. Ohio State currently has a 95.7 percent chance to sign Smith.

Smith would be by far the top commit to the 2024 Miami football class as it currently stands. Miami struggled in 2022 without a game-changing player offensively. Four-star WRs Nathaniel Joseph and Robby Washington signed with Miami in the 2023 class but are more suited to the slot.

Miami needs to add an outside WR who can be a program changer in the 2024 class. The Hurricanes are pursuing Smith and his Chaminade Madonna teammate Joshisa Trader in the 2024 class. On3 projects Miami with a 91.8 percent chance for a commitment from Trader who is listed as the eighth WR in 2024.

"“They’re really talking about the same thing, come in and be a program changer…Coach (Kevin Beard) is on me hard. When he got the job, that’s when we started building a relationship. Coach KB, I could say for sure that he’s one of the realest coaches in college football.”"

Simmons quoted Smith about the expectations the Miami coaching staff and specifically Beard have for him if he signs with the Hurricanes. Four-star St. Thomas Aquinas WR Chance Robinson is currently the highest-rated commit in the 2024 Miami class. Game and program changers on offense are critical for 2024.

Miami needs elite-skill position players on offense. Smith would be the highest-rated Miami WR signee since Ryan Moore in 2002. Flipping Smith from Ohio State would be a huge coup for Miami in the 2024 class and a foundational player for the program overall. Smith would be the highest-rated player on the Miami roster.
