Miami Hurricanes News: FB recruiting, baseball coaching update
The Miami Hurricanes football program is coming off of what is being reported by multiple recruiting sites as a productive weekend hosting prospects on official visits. Several media outlets reported who could be trending to Miami following the weekend of official visits and there is other news surrounding Miami targets.
Adam Gorney of Rivals.Com wrote in his Tuesday column that five-star 2024 prospect Joshisa Trader had his position changed by the recruiting site from wide receiver to athlete. Trader is one of the top players on the Miami Hurricanes recruiting board. A commitment from Trader would be huge for the 2024 class.
Brian Smith of All Hurricanes wrote about Oklahoma defensive lineman Derrick LeBlanc entering the transfer portal. LeBlanc was a four-star signee with the Sooners in the 2024 class. A Kissimmee Osceola alum, LeBlanc tweeted that a family situation has created a need for him to be closer to home.
Longtime college football analyst Mike Farrell ranked the Miami Hurricanes football program first among “Teams who have stepped up recruiting with recent coaching change.” Farrell praised Mario Cristobal as an elite recruiter who has taken Miami to recruiting heights we haven’t seen in decades.
Miami is reportedly interested in former MLB All-Star and ex-Texas assistant coach Troy Tulowitzki as a potential replacement for Gino DiMare as head baseball coach per Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball via Christopher Stock of Inside the U. Miami baseball alum Jon Jay is considered a longshot candidate.
Marcus Benjamin of Canes County wrote about “The Return of LBU?: Miami makes significant upgrades at the position group.” Miami signed five linebackers in the 2023 class, have added two through the transfer portal and have a pair committed for 2024. All of the new Miami LBs are at least 6’2 and 215 pounds.
David Lake of Inside the U profiled college football expert Phil Steele projecting that the Miami Hurricanes will finish the 2023 season as the 30th-ranked team in the country. Lake wrote that Steele likes the progress that Miami is making and he ranks the Hurricanes as the fourth most improved team nationally.
