Miami Hurricanes News: FB questions, Cavinders angry with article
Several national media outlets posed questions about the Miami Hurricanes football program for the 2023 season and beyond on Wednesday. Haley and Hanna Cavinder reacted angrily to an article written about their impact on name, image and likeness and how much effect their looks had on their success.
Matt Zenitz of On3 named the Miami Hurricanes as the ACC representative in “Power Five teams from each conference positioned for the biggest win jumps in 2023.” Zenitz discussed the freshmen and transfers Miami has added in the offseason and the returning players projected as high-round NFL Draft picks.
Longtime college football recruiting analyst Mike Farrell asked on Twitter “Should #Canes be considered a sleeping giant?” The answers run from logical from most Miami Hurricanes fans to “Pittsburgh is better than what Miami ever was and will ever be.” Mario Cristobal is at least upgrading recruiting and facilities.
Hanna rightfully responded firmly to Ethan Strauss of The Free Press website about an article he wrote claiming “The Cavinder Twins, the emerging oligarchs of women’s college basketball, weren’t the best players. But they might be the best-looking.” The Cavinders were key contributors on the first Miami Elite Eight berth.
Chad Simmons of On3 spoke to five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith about his recruitment that included Miami. Smith told Simmons that Miami believes he can be a program-changing player. Smith will take an official visit to Miami beginning June 22 and also has visits to Florida State and Penn State this month.
Center Matt Lee and guard Javion Cohen were named by On3 to their“2023 Preseason All-Transfer Portal Team.” Cohen and Lee are the top two interior offensive linemen nationally in the On3 transfer rankings and the highest-rated Miami transfers per 247 Sports. Cohen and Lee will anchor the Miami OL.
Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports National Recruiting Director stated that his crystal ball is still on LSU for five-star edge rusher Colin Simmons, but Miami is on the rise for the elite prospect. Wiltfong also stated that Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor “ “has all the traits to be the best recruiter in the country.”
