Miami Football American Athletic Conference Non-Opponents
The American Athletic Conference has seen a lot of movement in its 10-year history. Louisville finished 12–1 overall and 7–1 in the AAC in its sole season as a member of the conference. The Cardinals have been in the ACC since 2014. Rutgers also left the AAC for the Big 10 after one season.
Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston are leaving the AAC for the Big XII this summer with BYU. Alabama-Birmingham, Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, North Texas, Rice and Texas-San Antonio are joining the AAC. Miami has not played Charlotte or Texas-San Antonio. UTSA did not begin playing football until 2011.
The Roadrunners were 26-32 in their first five seasons of existence under former Miami national championship coach Larry Coker. Charlotte plays at Florida in 2023 and next plays an ACC opponent when it plays at North Carolina in 2024. Texas-San Antonio does not have any ACC teams on its future schedule.
Miami will play at AAC opponent Temple on September 23. The 2020 Temple at Miami game was canceled due to Covid. Miami won all 13 games versus Temple between 1992 and 2005. The majority of the games between the Hurricanes and the Owls were as rivals in the old Big East Conference.
