Miami Hurricanes News: 4-Star DL visiting, potential future lineups

Four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin tweeted on Tuesday night that he will be visiting the Miami Hurricanes football program on Wednesday. David Lake of Inside the U looked two years into the future about what the potential depth chart for the Miami football team could look like in 2025.

Franklin took his official visit to Miami the weekend of June 2. Prior to earlier this month, Franklin took unofficial visits to Coral Gables in March and April. Franklin is the 43rd-ranked prospect, eighth DL and top player in Mississippi in the 2024 class. Tennessee is favored to receive a commitment from Franklin at 73.2 percent.

Lake examined the Future Outlook: A look at Miami’s potential 2025 lineup and the path to a…championship level roster.” The 2023 Miami freshman class that ranked seventh nationally should be the foundation of the 2025 Hurricanes.

Marcus Benjamin of Canes County spoke with Miami recruiting legend Larry Blustein about the potential concerns of depth on the Hurricanes roster. Benjamin and Blustein also discussed which Miami players could go from good to great in 2023, and which high school players stood out at camps in Florida.

Sam Gillenwater of On3 published the last 2023 two-round NBA Mock Draft by ESPN.  Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN project Miami Hurricanes basketball star Jordan Miller to be selected 56th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies. ACC Player of the Year Isaiah Wong is not projected to be drafted.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald took “A look at most interesting Canes football starting battles. And UM football, hoops notes.” Jackson examined the competition at cornerback, running back, wide receiver, defensive tackle, defensive end and tight end as Miami conducts summer workouts.

Miami has added players at all six of the positions examined by Jackson. Cornerback and DT have been almost completely overturned. Miami has almost an entirely new CB unit. Miami returns DTs Leonard Taylor, Jared Harrison-Hunte and Jacob Lichtenstein. Harrison-Hunte and Taylor had prior experience as starters.
