The Miami football program has the third-best chance for a commitment for five-star edge rusher Dylan Stewart after he named his top five on Friday. Georgia, Maryland, Ohio State and South Carolina were the other four schools Stewart named in his top five. Stewart took his official visit to Miami the weekend of June 9.

Prior to Miami Stewart visited Georgia the weekend of June 2. Stewart visited Ohio State the weekend of June 16 and he will be in Columbia visiting South Carolina this weekend. Maryland was an interesting addition among the five finalists chosen by Stewart. The Terrapins haven’t received a visit from Stewart in over a year.

No more official visits are scheduled for Stewart according to his On3 profile. South Carolina leads with a 38.5 percent chance for a commitment for Stewart, Ohio State is second at 29.8 percent and Miami is third at 23.0. Georgia is running a distant fourth with a 1.8 percent chance for a Stewart commitment.

The recruitment of Stewart is clearly a three-team race between Miami, Ohio State and South Carolina. Stewart is the seventh-ranked prospect, second edge rusher and top player in Washington D.C. out of Friendship Collegiate Academy. Three-star prospect Daylen Russell is the only DL committed to Miami for 2024.

Stewart told Brian Dohn of 247 Sports that he will make a decision about his commitment in July or August. Prior to making a decision Stewart will speak to his family and coaches per Dohn. The impression the Miami football program made on Stewart was led by Pro Football Hall of Fame DL coach  Jason Taylor.

"“It was a good visit when I went there…I liked speaking with (defensive line) coach (Jason) Taylor and what he has done. I like coach Taylor and having that opportunity to be coached by coach Taylor.”"

Miami has been in the mix with multiple high-level defensive linemen in the Class of 2024 largely due to the presence of Taylor on the staff. The next step for Mario Cristobal, Taylor and co-defensive line coach Joe Salave’a is to close in recruiting. Stewart would be a foundational player in the 2024 class.
