Three-star 2024 offensive lineman Moritz Schmoranzer tweeted on Saturday night that he would announce his commitment on Friday. All Hurricanes and Inside the U interviewed four-star 2025 running back Byron Louis. A Canes County poll asked who is the best quarterback in Miami Hurricanes history.

Schmoranzer posted Miami, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and West Virginia as the four programs he is considering. On3 lists West Virginia with a 39.6 percent chance for a commitment from Schmoranzer, Miami at 34.7 percent and Virginia Tech at 20.1 percent. Pittsburgh is at less than one percent.

Schmoranzer is originally from Germany. The 247 Sports composite rankings have Schmoranzer as the 984th best prospect, 71st interior offensive lineman and 27th player in Virginia out of Roanoke, North Cross School. Three-star offensive tackle Juan Minaya is the only OL committed to Miami in the 2024 class.

Louis preps at American Heritage where he backed up 2023 Miami signee Mark Fletcher. Louis likes the changes that Mario Cristobal made on the Miami coaching staff during the 2023 off-season. Miami leads for Louis with a 36.6 percent chance for a commitment, followed by Georgia at 19.4 percent and UCF at 11.3 percent.

Ken Dorsey won the Canes County poll as the best quarterback in Miami Hurricanes history by an unspecified margin. Jim Kelly was second, Bernie Kosar and Gino Torretta tied for third and Vinny Testaverde and Steve Walsh tied for fifth. Kelly and Testaverde were the only two of those six who did not win national championships.

Craig Erickson is the only Miami National Championship QB that did not finish in the top six. Torretta is the only QB in Miami history to win a Heisman Trophy and a National Championship. Kelly set the foundation for Miami being known as QB U. From Kelly through Torretta five straight Miami quarterbacks were drafted.
