Four-star legacy safety Ryan Mack has committed to the 2024 Miami football class. Mack is the son of former Miami linebacker Rod Mack who played for the Hurricanes in the 1990s. The Miami recruiting class moves to 23rd nationally with the addition of Mack per the On3 composite rankings.

Mack is a three-star safety from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale. The On3 rankings have Mack as the 503rd prospect, 49th safety and 72nd player in Florida in the 2024 Class. Four-star wide receiver Chance Robinson previously committed to the Miami football program in the 2024 class from St. Thomas Aquinas.

Gaining two commits from St. Thoams Aquinas in the same class is significant for Miami. The Hurricanes had previously struggled to sign players from the Raiders in recent seasons. Defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae led the recruitment of Mack for Miami. Defensive coordinator Lance Guidry was the secondary recruiter.

Mack took four unofficial visits to Miami before making his commitment to the Hurricanes. Miami earned the commitment over Pittsburgh, Florida State and Penn State in the order of the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Mack is the third safety committed to the 2024 Miami class with Dylan Day and Isaiah Thomas.

At 5โ€™11 and 150 pounds, Mack has to add bulk when he gets to Miami. Although listed as a safety, Andrew Ivins, the 247 Sports Director of Scouting stated that Mack primarily played at cornerback in 2022. With his current build, Mack is far better suited to safety. Ivins stated Mack has found his most success in man coverage.

Ivins continued that the ceiling for Mack might be highest at safety. Miami is still looking for its first commitment from a player listed at CB in the 2023 class. Mack will bring speed to the Miami secondary. As a sophomore Mack ran a 10.86 and 10.91 in the 100 meters. Addae is living up to his reputation as an elite recruiter.
