The Miami Hurricanes are a team to watch with the Memphis Tigers for Alabama transfer guard Jahvon Quinerly according to Isaac Trotter of 247 Sports. Trotter summarized the potential transfer in his article Transfer portal notebook: Fallout for Alabama after Jahvon Quinerly bounces; latest on West Virginia tizzy.”

Quinerly has one year of eligibility remaining. Wherever Quinerly transfers to would be his third school in his sixth season of college basketball. Quinerly signed with Villanova out of high school in 2018. After one season with the Wildcats, Quinerly transferred to Alabama where he sat out the 2019-20 season.

In three seasons with Alabama, Quinerly averaged 11.7 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.5 turnovers. Quinerly shot 42.9 percent from the floor, made 34.7 percent of his three-point attempts and 74.1 percent of his free throws. The SEC named Quinerly the 2023 Co-Sixth Man of the Year.

Quinerly was a 2018 McDonald’s All-American, the 2021 SEC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and named all-tournament team in 2021 and 2023. The Miami Hurricanes basketball team returns Nijel Pack and Woogla Poplar as starting guards in 2023-24. Bensley Joseph is projected to start at guard in 2023-24.

"“Miami: You want an Isaiah Wong replacement? Insert Quinerly who could team up with Nijel Pack to form a tantalizing backcourt. Miami has two open scholarships and would have the bones of a third-straight Elite 8 team if Quinerly hopped on board. Pack and Quinerly are incredibly tough to guard. But the supporting cast of Wooga Poplar, Norchad Omier, Matthew Cleveland and Bensley Joseph is NICE, too. Miami would instantly vault into the top tier of the ACC. Everybody eats in Miami.”"

If Quinerly chooses Miami he would likely slot in at guard with Pack and Poplar. Joseph would remain the sixth man. Florida State transfer Matthew Cleveland and Norchad Omier provide Miami with a good tandem at forward. Joseph, Pack and Poplar give Miami a solid trio at guard. Depth is Miami’s biggest question mark.

Cleveland replaces Jordan Miller at forward. As it stands now, Joseph would replace Isaiah Wong as a starter at guard. The Miami bench is unproven. Rising sophomore forward A.J. Casey is the likely sixth man for Miami in 2023-24 without any more roster additions. Freshman Michael Nwoko could be in the Miami rotation.

Rising sophomores Jakai Robinson and Christian Watson are the projected guards off the bench for Miami in 2023-24. Miami also has incoming freshmen Paul Djobet and Kyshawn George at guard to add depth. Quinerly would potentially provide Miami with a far deeper and more experienced rotation in 2023-24.
