The Miami Hurricanes football program flipped three-star defensive back Romanas Frederique from West Virginia on Friday night. Four-star wide receiver Jacory Barney is announcing his commitment at 7 PM on Saturday night and is expected to commit to Miami. Expect a few commitments during July.
Less than two weeks after committing to West Virginia, Frederique became the third player in the 2024 class from St. Thomas Aquinas to commit to Miami. The initial commitment to West Virginia came eight days after Frederique took his official visit to Morgantown. Frederique took his official visit to Miami last weekend.
The commitment from a third player from St. Thomas Aquinas big because Miami has not signed a Raiders player since 2019. Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor used to be on the staff at St. Thomas Aquinas. Frederique transferred to St. Thomas for his senior season according to 247 Sports.
Frederique is the 1,005th prospect, the 82nd cornerback and the 134th recruit in Florida in the 2024 Class. Miami now has 14 commitments in the 2024 class. The Hurricanes move up from 30th to 28th nationally with the Frederique commitment. Frederique is the first cornerback committed to Miami in the 2024 class.

Barney is the 416th prospect, 71st WR and 59th player in Florida out of Palmetto per the On3 industry ranking.
A commitment from Barney would move the Miami football program to the 25th class nationally. Barney committing to Miami would move the Hurricanes ahead of Iowa, Florida State and Rutgers. Miami previously has a commitment from St. Thomas Aquinas WR Chance Robinson to the 2024 class.
Three-star safety Ryan Mack is the third St. Thomas Aquinas player committed to Miami in the 2024 class. Linebacker Avery Huff who transferred to FIU in January was the last player from St. Thomas Aquinas to sign with Miami in 2019. Expect Miami to receive more commitments throughout July.
