The Miami Hurricanes lost out on another key 2024 prospect on Sunday. Five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott who was trending to Miami committed to Ohio State. Three-star offensive lineman Deryc Plazz tweeted on Saturday he is down to Miami and North Carolina State with a July 7 announcement.

Scott is the 14th-ranked prospect, third defensive lineman and top recruit in Illinois in the 2024 class. Steve Wiltfong the 247 Sports Director of Football Recruiting logged a crystal ball for Scott to Miami in April. Miami had a 70.7 percent chance for a commitment from Scott prior to his commitment to the Buckeyes on Sunday.

Two crystal balls were logged for Plazz to North Carolina State on Friday and one on Saturday. Gaby Urrutia of 247 Sports logged a crystal ball for Plazz to Miami on Saturday. The On3 projection has clearly not been updated since Plazz de-committed from Penn State. The Nittany Lions are still trending for a Plazz commitment.

Penn State is listed with a 52.4 percent chance for a commitment from Plazz, NC State is second at 41.5 percent and Miami is third at 2.2 percent. None of the 247 Sports national writers have logged crystal balls for Plazz. Plazz is the 1,015th prospect nationally, the 79th tackle and the 136th recruit in Florida in the 2024 class.

Canes County posted a poll to determine who the best running back is in the history of the Miami Hurricanes football program. Clinton Portis finished fifth, Alonzo Highsmith was fourth, Ottis Anderson third, Edgerrin James was second and Willis McGahee first. James is in the Hall of Fame and Anderson was a Superbowl MVP.
