After de-committed from Penn State last month the Miami football program is trending over North Carolina State for three-star offensive lineman Deryc Plazz. Plazz has been dropping hints recently that he is leaning toward Miami. On Wednesday, Plazz tweeted โ€œMy recruitment is closed! Iโ€™m Home This Friday @12pm.โ€

When four-star edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot committed to the Miami football program on Monday, Plazz tweeted a reply to his commitment with the emojis ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ™Œ? Plazz has retweeted several other Miami related content recently. Miami is listed with a 50.1 percent chance for a Plazz commitment per On3.

Most sites consider the recruitment for Plazz to be between Miami and North Carolina State. On3 has Penn State second with a 43.2 percent chance for a Plazz commitment. North Carolina State is third for a Plazz commitment at 3.1 percent. Miami and North Carolina State each have two crystal balls logged for Plazz.

The crystal balls logged for Plazz in favor of NC State came on Friday and Saturday. Gaby Urrutia of Inide the U and NC State Inside Michael Clark logged their crystal balls projecting Plazz to Miami on Wednesday. Rivals project Miami with a 100 percent chance for a commitment from Plazz.

Plazz is the 1,017th-ranked prospect, 79th interior OL and 136th recruit in Florida in the 2024 class. Three-star commit Juan Minaya is the only OL committed to the Miami football program in the 2024 class. Miami currently has the 20th-ranked class in the 247 Sports composite team rankings.

A commitment from Plazz would move Miami up to 17th passing Arkansas, Purdue and North Carolina as the rankings exist on Wednesday night. Offensive line is not as much of a priority for Miami in the 2024 class as it was in 2024. Miami signed five 2023 OL and added two from the transfer portal.

Five-star OTs Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola were the top two ranked 2023 Miami signees. Center Matthew Lee and guard Javion Cohen transferred to Miami during the 2023 offseason.
