Miami football has never defeated these six teams
According to the Miami football media guide, the only teams Hurricanes have never defeated are Kansas State, Murray State, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Methodist, Washington State and Western Kentucky. Middle Tennessee State has the most wins of the above group versus Miami with three.
Kansas State defeated Miami 28-24, at the venue formerly known as Sun Life Stadium in 2011. Miami lost 52-13 at Kansas State in 2012. Those are the only two meetings between the Hurricanes and the Wildcats. Kansas State had 498 yards of offense and took advantage of three Miami turnovers in the second game.
Murray State who is currently a Football Championship Subdivision team defeated Miami 15-0 in 1931 and the Hurricanes and Racers battled to a scoreless tie in 1931. Miami and Murray State played when both were members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Miami was a member from 1929 through 1942.
Middle Tennessee State defeated Miami 25-6 in 1931, 7-0 in 1932 and 45-31 last season. The Blue Raiders were also a member of the SIAA from 1931 through 1942. Middle Tennessee State had two of its three combined SIAA wins in 1931 and 1932 versus Miami. The loss by Miami in 2022 is one of the most infamous in history.
Southern Methodist defeated Miami 7-3 in the 1965 season opener in the only-ever meeting between the programs in front of 46,494 at the Orange Bowl. The season-opening loss to Miami was part of a 2-4 start in 1965. Miami won its next three and tied in the season finale to finish the 1965 season with a 5-5-1 record.
Washington State won the only game against Miami 20-14 in the 2015 Sun Bowl. The game was memorable for being played in a blizzard in El Paso. Miami played Washington State under interim head coach Larry Scott. Miami and Washington State were scheduled for a rematch in the 2021 Sun Bowl. Miami withdrew because of Covid.
Western Kentucky defeated the Miami football team 19-0 in 1930 and 20-0 in 1931. The Hilltoppers hold the distinction of being the only team Miami has not scored against. Miami and Western Kentucky were also SIAA rivals. Western Kentucky was in the SIAA from 1926–1942. The SIAA folded in 1942.
