Miami Hurricanes News: Plazz commitment, FB among most improved

Friday is the day the Miami Hurricanes football program will find out if they receive a commitment from three-star offensive lineman Deryc Plazz. Carter Bahns of 247 Sports named the Miami football team second among “College football’s most improved teams: Nebraska, Miami among 2023 breakout candidates.”

Plazz has been in the news all week surrounding Miami Hurricanes football recruiting. Prior to his Friday commitment announcement Plazz has been active on Twitter surrounding the Miami and North Carolina State football programs. The Wolfpack is regarded as the primary competition for a Miami receiving a Plazz commitment.

Bahns sites the talent on the Miami football roster, the seventh-ranked 2023 class, high-end talent via the transfer portal and the additions of Shannon Dawson as offensive coordinator and Lance Guidry to run the defense as reasons to expect Miami to improve in 2023. Bahns called the Miami roster impressive.

Sam Gillenwater transcribed an interview with college football analyst Paul Feinbaum discussing the future of the ACC. Feinbaum believes if the ACC grant of rights did not extend through 2036 that several ACC teams including the Miami Hurricanes athletic program would be on their way out of the conference.

Led by Kamren Kinchens and James Williams, Brad Crawford of 247 Sports named the Miami safeties among hisCollege football’s dandy dozen: 2023’s most talented position groups, ranked.” Crawford called Kinchens and Williams “Miami’s go-to pairing at safety” Kinchens and Williams will anchor Miami defensively.

Longtime college football analyst Mike Farrell in his addition of fact or fiction stated that the recent Hurricanes commitment “Marquise Lightfoot to Miami is a flex for Mario Cristobal.” Farrell credited Miami for gaining a commitment with Lightfoot being from Illinois and over legacy college football programs.
