There are 51 teams the Miami football program has played but never lost to. Those programs are made up of six power five conference teams, 22 Group of Five programs, one in NAIA, four that no longer play football and 18 schools in the Football Championship Subdivision. Miami will play two of those teams this season.

The most recent team the Miami football program defeated that they have never lost to was Southern Mississippi last season. Miami and Southern Mississippi played for the first time in 2022. Miami (Ohio) is the only team on the 2023 Miami football schedule the Hurricanes have defeated but not lost to.

Miami has played 27 of the 51 teams they have never lost to multiple times. An 11-0 record versus Rutgers is the most times Miami has played an opponent without a loss. Oregon is the only Power Five opponent Miami has played only once without a loss. Miami has not played anyone else more than five times without a loss.

Miami has defeated Bethune-Cookman five times without a loss. The Hurricanes defeated the Wildcats 70-13 in the 2022 season opener. Miami will host Bethune-Cookman on September 14 this season. All of the teams on the future Miami football schedules after 2022 have defeated the Hurricanes at least once.

Several of the opponents Miami never lost to occurred before 1979. The 1979 season was the first under Howard Schnellenberger and is considered the beginning of the modern era of the Miami football program. Schnelleberger turned Miami into a national power in his fifth season with the 1983 National Championship.
