FCS, NAIA and defunct programs that have not beaten Miami football

In addition to Bethune-Cookman, FCS programs Miami has not lost to are Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Central Connecticut State, The Citadel, East Tennessee State, Holy Cross, Jacksonville State, McNeese State, Mercer, Presbyterian, Richmond, Southeastern Louisiana, VMI, William and Mary and Wofford.

Bethune-Cookman is the most common FCS opponent Miami has played without a loss. Miami has a 4-0 record all-time versus Chattanooga which is second among FCS opponents. Miami has played 11 FCS opponents without a loss. Miami earned its first Orange Bowl win versus Holy Cross in 1945.

The Miami football team defeated Louisiana College, now known as Louisiana Christian University 7-0 in 1927 and 20-0 in 1928 in the only two games the programs played. Louisiana Christian is now an NAIA Member after being in the NCAA from 2000 through 2021. Louisiana Christian is located in Pineville.

The four programs Miami has an undefeated record against that no longer play football are the University of Detroit (now Detroit Mercy) George Washington, Long Beach State and the University of the Pacific. Miami was 4-0 versus Detroit, 1-0 versus Long Beach State and George Washington and 2-0 versus Pacific.
