Miami football ranking before Jayden Jackson July 13 commitment
The projections for the Miami football team ahead of the Thursday commitment announcement of four-star defensive lineman Jayden Jackson depend on the recruiting website. There are no crystal balls logged for Jackson from 247 Sports. Ohio State is projected with an 80.3 percent chance for a Jackson commitment by On3.
Miami has a 100 percent chance for a Jackson commitment by the Rivals Future Cast. Jackson will announce his commitment on the 247 Sports College Football Recruiting Show at 5 PM ET on YouTube on Thursday. Florida, Ohio State, Miami and Texas hosted Jackson for official visits in that order during June.
Jackson is the 433rd prospect, 45th defensive lineman and 65th recruit in Florida out of IMG Academy by the 247 Sports Composite Ratings. Jackson would be a big commitment for the 2024 Miami football class next to four-star edge rusher Marquis Lightfoot who committed to the Hurricanes last week.
Jackson had 17 tackles, six tackles for loss and a 0.5 sack for IMG Academy in 2022. Players generally do not produce the flashy numbers at IMG similiar to prospects who play for their local high schools. The snaps and talent at IMG Academy are distributed more evenly. At 6’2 and 300 pounds Jackson is an ideal run stuffer.
The 247 Sports scouting report for Jackson from Andrew Ivins credits him for being the ideal nose (tackle) that has plenty of power to stop the run. Ivins observed that Jackson moves extemely well laterally for a player with his size. IMG coaches have raved about Jackson and his leadership skills per Ivins.
Ivins stated that Jackson needs to keep developing, particulary as a pass rusher. The expectation is for Jackson to eventually grow to at least 325 pounds. In addition to the commitment from Lightfoot, Miami Columbus three-star DL Daylen Russell has also committed to the Hurricanes in the 2024 class.
Miami currently has the 21st ranked 2024 class with 16 commitments. Clemson has the best class in the ACC with Florida State second, North Carolina third and Miami fourth. Miami signed the seventh best class nationally in the 2024 class and was the best in the ACC. Miami is behind its pace with the 2023 class.
