Miami football career passing leader No. 6: Vinny Testaverde

  • 6,058 passing yards
  • 48 passing touchdowns
  • 25 interceptions

Vinny Testaverde had a remarkably similar career to Erikson, but he was slightly ahead in every statistical category and won a Heisman trophy.

Testaverde’s Canes made it to a New Year’s Six bowl in two consecutive seasons with him playing the QB1 role, but they couldn’t get over the hump before Miami’s all-time leading passer at the time was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1987 NFL draft. Still, being a part of three double-digit win teams makes Testaverde an undeniable all-time great at the U, especially with their first title taking place during his freshman season.

Testaverde showed up in Miami and won. Simple as that. South Florida not only got to witness a collegiate great but an eventual NFL record-holder for completing passes to the largest number of different NFL players (134–138). He’s also No. 2 in terms of unique players who’ve caught a touchdown pass from the same QB (70).
